Greendale works with Foodcycle & Food Action
FoodCycle Exeter is the south-west’s newest FoodCycle project! Having started serving food in March 2016, the team are now looking to increase their outreach to serve as many people who are in need of a community meal as possible. Every Tuesday at 6pm the team serve a 3 course meal made from surplus food. They serve in the Wonford Community and Learning Centre in Wonford, Exeter. For more information, drop them an email on exeter@foodcycle.org.uk or visit their website.
Exeter Food Action is part of the Devon and Cornwall Food Association, and reclaims and redistributes excess food to organisations around Exeter that feed people. They employ one staff member, and have a team of over 50 volunteers, who all work to help stop food from going to landfill, aerobic digester or being used as animal food. While they acknowledge wider issues, they exist as an organisation in order to challenge the wastefulness that exists in our society, and do what they can with whatever food they can save. Exeter Food Action are working with Greendale to share food with soup kitchens, hostels, food banks, community cafes, schools, and any other organisations that feed people, but do so “not-for-profit”. Their service is free, and they are financed entirely by grants and donations. Click here for more
