A group of Waterdance directors and Western Fish Producers’ Organisation manager, Harry Owen visited parliament on Wednesday 7th February. We were delighted to be invited by MP Anthony Mangnall to meet the full ministerial team in Defra covering fishing regulation and even to talk to Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak about his support for the UK fishing industry. Anthony Mangnall is a strong advocate of Brixham and a sustainable fishing industry. His passion for a successful future for the port is clear.

We welcomed the Minister aboard the beam trawler Barentszee of Ladram, where he met skipper Shaun Gibbs along with Rowan Carter and Martyn Youell from the Waterdance management team. He saw the Ecomotus, hydrogen-based fuel saving technology aboard and learned about the upcoming trial of the Sumwing hydrofoil fishing gear design to cut fuel use and reduce seabed impact, which the Western Fish Producers’ Organisation has spearheaded.
