Waterdance and WFPO visit Parliament
A group of Waterdance directors and Western Fish Producers’ Organisation manager, Harry Owen visited parliament on Wednesday 7th February.
We were delighted to be invited by MP Anthony Mangnall to meet the full ministerial team in Defra covering fishing regulation and even to talk to Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak about his support for the UK fishing industry. Anthony Mangnall is a strong advocate of Brixham and a sustainable fishing industry. His passion for a successful future for the port is clear.
Secretary of State Steve Barclay expressed his ambition to have a positive impact on fish stocks and fishing businesses. We offered our full support to this along with concrete ideas to have a positive impact, such as prioritisation of prime fishing grounds over other marine activities and investment to improve the understanding of fish stocks.
