To kick off our support for the Fishermen's Mission, Friday June 28th Greendale Farm Shop fishmongers hosted an event as part of the charity’s national fundraising day, Fish Friday. Our customers were able to enter a prize raffle, meet Albert, the Fishermen’s Mission’s friendly mascot, and learn more about the fantastic work carried out by this important charity.

About the Fishermen’s Mission: The Fishermen’s Mission is the only UK fishermen’s charity that provides emergency support alongside practical, financial, spiritual and emotional care. They help all fisherman, active or retired, and their families. Fishing remains the most dangerous peacetime occupation in the UK. Every year, an average of 15 fishermen are killed or seriously injured and 45 boats are lost. The Mission is committed to improving safety on fishing vessels as well as supporting crews and their families. They provide practical and emotional support, such as helping with benefits and grants, and immediate financial assistance for those who are struggling.

About Greendale Farm Shop Fishmongers: We’re the proud owners of over 20 fishing vessels. Our boats return most days with a new catch; fresh fish can often be on its way to the Greendale farm shop within hours of leaving the sea. Prepared for sale by our skilled fishmongers, the fish available may vary from day to day, depending on the catch, but popular species are always to be found on the fish counter.
